EDI Initial Teacher Training (ITT) - Inclusive Practice in Education
This half-day Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) INSET training course is designed to help trainee teachers embed EDI in their everyday practice. By fostering an inclusive classroom culture, this EDI Initial Teacher Training course equips educators with the knowledge and skills to promote equality, diversity and inclusion effectively.
Who is the Training For?
This course is specifically tailored for trainee teachers and can be delivered at any stage of the Initial Teacher Training (ITT) programme.
Aims of the EDI Training Session
Participants will:
- Develop an understanding of the equality legislation
- Consider the benefits of an inclusive school
- Explore the nine protected characteristics
- Explore what constitutes unlawful discrimination
- Develop strategies for preventing and tackling inappropriate language and behaviour within your school
- Explore how unconscious bias can manifest in a school and how to reduce it
- Explore strategies and practical ideas for embedding EDI across the school to proactively create an environment where pupils value and respect differences and feel safe, valued and engaged
